Chen Customs is a division of Legacy Custom Products, Inc. We are a custom gunsmithing shop specializing in custom 1911's and custom 1911 parts built to the highest standards.
Since 2001, Stan Chen has crafted some of the finest custom 1911 pistols in the world. He has built a solid reputation in the industry of innovation, skillful craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail. Stan Chen Custom 1911s are prized by serious aficionados of the true custom 1911 who recognize the difference between 'good' and 'truly superb'.
Around 10 years ago, Stan grew frustrated with the crude 1911 parts available on the market. Too much time was spent filing, grinding, and sanding parts for that perfect finish. There had to be a better way.
After years of prototyping, designing, and brainstorming, Stan used his understanding of the 1911 and 10+ years of gunsmithing experience to create the first Chen Custom Weld-on Magwell Suite. This revolutionary magwell added no length or width to the pistol, allowed for stuck mags to be stripped, utilized a huge funnel, and was machined from the highest quality materials.
In 2016, Chen Custom released the Gen2 Magwell- a magwell that includes all of the features from the Magwell Suite, but is only one piece. This is the first and only magwell integrated with the mainspring housing that adds no length or width to the pistol. The Gen2 Magwell also eliminates the problem of funnel twisting due to hard side impacts.
3 years ago, the Chen SI "Shooter Installed" Magwell was released. This one piece magwell retains many of the features from its predecessors, but with one key difference- it is fully shooter installable. Anyone with basic 1911 knowledge can easily install the magwell, and it is a great alternative to those who don't have the patience or money for gunsmithing services.
Over the past three years, we have expanded our parts line to include thumb safeties, grip safeties, and rear sights, with more on the way. Our custom 1911 parts are critically acclaimed and have been featured in American Handgunner, Combat Handguns, The Armory Life, Guns & Ammo, and more.
We utilize a well equipped shop including CNC and manual milling, turning, surface grinding, advanced CAD/CAM software, precision TIG welding, heat treating, hardness testing and a large assortment of custom tools, fixtures and precision measuring instruments.
Although our shop is small, it is filled with people who are truly invested and committed to creating the highest quality product.
