The SI Magwell is the latest addition to the Stan Chen Custom Magwell family. It delivers greatly enhanced reloads, elegant design and maximum durability.
Solid, one piece construction.
Large sculpted funnel for dramatically faster reloads. Through careful CAD design, every last millimeter of available real estate was turned into reload-enhancing surface area.
Designed to very nicely match the beveled magazine wells commonly found on current production 1911s, such as Springfields, Kimbers, Dan Wessons and current Colts (2018 production with fully beveled magazine well) .
Most Colts made prior to 2018, and other frames without full magazine bevels, will require minor blending. (See pictures above). We offer a "Blend Kit" to facilitate this (located under "Accesories").
Eliminates sharp frame corners. Unique funnel profile eliminates sharp edges at front of magazine well opening on the frame. Smoothing of all surfaces on the entire part yields total carry comfort.
Low profile roundbutt. Flowing design. The lines of the entire magwell were designed to flow well with the pistol, giving the bottom of the pistol a cohesive, custom look.
Custom quality checkering. Equaled only by the very best gunsmiths. Perfectly formed diamonds, row after row. Even at 20x magnification. Enhances recoil control.
One-Piece Durability. Precision CNC machined from a solid block of heat treated steel. No joints or screws to work loose, ever.

Installation is simple. I did not blend with existing magwell because I have no experience with the blending process and lacked sufficient tools to do so. However this magwell is a significant aesthetic improvement to my 1911. You need to be ready to buy magwell length grips, but it’s worth the money and effort especially if you have larger hands.

Instillation is super easy!
It's been a dozen years since I messed with 1911s. I'm no gunsmith but installation was extremely easy. I did have to look at another video more focused on the components of the frame but once completed, everything made sense again. Even with the extra research, took all of about 15 minutes, if that. EXCELLENT product. If my next 1911 doesn't have a magwell, this is my go to.

Easily the BEST Magwell I have ever found
I have "magwell" type products on all my handguns. This is by far the BEST version of the idea of a "funnel" to speed reloads that I have ever seen. The "name" gun and custom "makers" make very good products. I have them on numerous handguns...but this is BETTER. No contest between this and the "better known custom shops" products. FAR better. Worth every penny. This product, heaven forbidden, could speed a reload that saves your life...or help you with a fraction of a second in a timed shooting event. In any way...you win with the Chen Magwell. I have the SI, sell installed version. Perfect fit and huge opening funnel. You will not be disappointed. And I almost never write a review for anything, but this product is that good. And BTW, the family owned and staff customer service is immediate and same day. They even sent M&Ms, and a nice note in the box. I strongly hope you support this great family business. You will be pleased. Thank you for reading.

3 Black & 1 SS Chen SI Magwells
I bought 2 NH magwells installed them, blended them and hate them. I scoured the WEB looking for something better. I did so many searches that magwell sources started showing up everywhere in went on my devices. Chen caught my eye. Bought 1, loved it...bought 3 more. They all look great. I'll get around to blending them one day but no need to hurry....they're close out of the box. The SS one on my MR-1911 is so close I may never touch it.
