The SI Magwell is the latest addition to the Stan Chen Custom Magwell family. It delivers greatly enhanced reloads, elegant design and maximum durability.
Solid, one piece construction.
Large sculpted funnel for dramatically faster reloads. Through careful CAD design, every last millimeter of available real estate was turned into reload-enhancing surface area.
Designed to very nicely match the beveled magazine wells commonly found on current production 1911s, such as Springfields, Kimbers, Dan Wessons and current Colts (2018 production with fully beveled magazine well) .
Most Colts made prior to 2018, and other frames without full magazine bevels, will require minor blending. (See pictures above). We offer a "Blend Kit" to facilitate this (located under "Accesories").
Eliminates sharp frame corners. Unique funnel profile eliminates sharp edges at front of magazine well opening on the frame. Smoothing of all surfaces on the entire part yields total carry comfort.
Low profile roundbutt. Flowing design. The lines of the entire magwell were designed to flow well with the pistol, giving the bottom of the pistol a cohesive, custom look.
Custom quality checkering. Equaled only by the very best gunsmiths. Perfectly formed diamonds, row after row. Even at 20x magnification. Enhances recoil control.
One-Piece Durability. Precision CNC machined from a solid block of heat treated steel. No joints or screws to work loose, ever.

SI Magwell
I've been shooting 1911s since I was a kid. I shot them for 30 years in the Marine Corps, and I currently hold a Master classification in the Single Stack Division for USPSA. I've shot all the magwells out there. The Stan Chen SI Magwell is my favorite "by far" for USPSA and for everyday carry. The Stan Chen SI Magwell is the perfect combination of style and function. I am in the process of switching all my 1911s over to the Stan Chen SI Magwell. Should have made the switch a long time ago. Thanks for making a great product.

CHEN SI Magwell - Exceptional fit and finish
After purchasing my first 1911 I was in search of a blued, one-piece magwell. My search led me to the CHEN SI Magwell and after reading many positive reviews I knew it was the one I was looking for. The most important aspect of this magwell was that no modification or blending of my 1911 was necessary. I was immediately impressed with the overall quality and the installation was a snap. The fit and finish is truly exceptional, worth every penny. I would highly recommend this magwell.

Great looking piece of equipment. No rough spots or defects. Blended without any work and it does change the flow of the mag insert from typical magwells. I also like how the lips of the magwell extend to the front of the frame and flows nicely

The customer installed magwell
Amazing and interesting part to place on my side arm. The Steve Chen customer installed Manuel fit without any modification whatsoever. Now there is fitting that’s gonna be needed and needed to be done but it’ll fit. The way the Steve Chan custom, Manuel blends into whatever grinding is done on the frame of the 1911 the blend is so beautiful to look at and requires very little work on that end. Would recommend for any budding gunsmith, owner, enthusiast of 1911 to put one of these on their own pistol to make it work.

Shooter installed Magwell.
It was definitely not drop in for any of my Tisas 1911s. The forward portion of the well was NOT designed for any gun that has a beveled or angled opening adjacent to the 90deg for the mag floor plate opening. If your gun has anything other than a 90 at the bottom of the front strap be prepared for some mods. Also the shelf that the grip safety moves over is cut too short for the grip safety to release and had to be relieved by 3/16” to allow the grip safety to activate. The part is made exceedingly well, but it would be nice to include the pin and or small parts for $149. These issues may be related to a peculiar situation with the Tisas brand but the shelf depth for the grip safety is not. I don’t know why the two I ordered needed to be relieved so as not to interfere with the gs but they did.

Wow....just, WOW!
Not only is this one of the most practical mods you can make to your 1911 , it is hands down the most beautiful. A true example of the ideal blend of form and function. I almost hated to give one as a Christmas present for a friend, as I wanted to keep it for myself! Wonderful, friendly communications too!

communication was great and installation was pretty easy. There is a video on Chen's site that can help walk you through the process. Craftmanship is superb and super happy with this magwell.
